Sales Representative

Department: Administration
Location: Lynden, WA

Role: The Sales Representative is a sales role; responsible to expand third-party customer base and ensure customers are provided with distinctive logistics solutions and service. To meet the company’s growth, profitability, and strategic objectives, it will support the expanding customer service and operations teams with the Strategic goal of building Lynden Door Trucking’s customer base throughout and beyond the current service area. The role will focus on developing new and growing existing customers with specific emphasis on business outside of the Lynden Door family of companies, while honoring the company Statement of Purpose.

Responsibilities:

  • To conduct oneself with the highest level of integrity, positively representing the company and employees in a trustworthy, and sincere manner.
  • Interact with LDT scheduling and customer service to identify current and upcoming available lanes.
  • Determine quantity, frequency, and location of opportunities in open lanes.
  • Discover and develop a customer base by identifying customer needs and providing solutions.
  • Grow business profitably by expanding opportunities with existing customers and through the development of new customers who meet the profile criteria and credit worthiness guidelines established by the company.
  • Make routine visits to assigned customer base commensurate with the volume of business done and/or the potential for business with each specific customer.
  • Be aware of Lynden Door growth plans that could potentially position equipment into new regions or additional equipment into existing regions.
  • Understand the national and regional logistics market including trends and forecasts.
  • Be an expert in logistics, specifically the truckload segment. Be aware of spot and contracts rates for various regions.
  • Review past customers, shippers and consignees to search new opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the LDT team to optimize resources profitably.
  • Understand the pricing structure of current customers with contracted rates including corresponding fuel surcharge program.
  • Run credit reports on new and potential customers.
  • Track, identify and add qualified prospects to sales pipeline.
  • Support metrics to assess results of sales efforts.
  • Assist in developing annual sales goals for existing and anticipated customer base.

  • CRM, MS Office, expense reports and sales budget planning very important.
  • Ability to read and interpret freight market indexes.

TRAVEL: Office is located in Lynden, WA. Travel is required to assist Director of Customer Interface and Trucking team to support current relationships and develop new opportunities.

REPORTING: Reports directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing.
